Does God Really Care?
Proverbs 5:21
There are disasters all around us. From tsunamis to earthquakes. From bombings to war. The evidence of destruction remains clear on our television screens and it doesn’t seem to be stopping anytime soon. With all this destruction and chaos, the curious mind can often wonder; does God really care?
The Bible states in Romans 6:23 “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” Unfortunately, we were all born into this world of sin and destruction. As a result of the ultimate decision by our forefathers, to choose Satan over God, we are all suffering the consequences of Adam and Eve’s actions. But Does God still care about his damned creation? Or has he just given up and left us to our devices?

How to Still Trust God When Your Life is a Mess
Our devotional text today says “For the ways of man are before the eyes of the Lord, and he pondereth all his goings.” Imagine that! God thinks about us, he ponders about us! Sometimes we are tempted to think that God doesn’t have time to hear our prayer, he might not have time to deal with our ‘insufficient’ problems. Psalm 8:4 even proclaims “What is man, that thou art mindful of him? And the son of man, that thou visitest him?”

What is man?
When you think about it, we are just dust. We are here today and gone tomorrow. But, God is merciful. He has not left his creation to suffer and all die hopelessly. He has given us a way out of the destruction of this world. The ever-popular and powerful text proclaims “For God so loved the world, that he gave his our begotten son, that whosoever BELIEVETH in him, shall NOT perish, but have EVERLASTING life.” John 3: 16.
We are indeed stuck here on earth for a little while. We indeed witness sadness, disease, and crime every day. But God is asking us to come to him, to believe in his promise. He is telling us that he is a personal God and he cares about the big problems like world hunger and even the smaller problems like you getting that job.
He sees everything that we do and he wonders about us. He cares for each of us individually.

Today’s Prayer:
Dear Heavenly Father,
Thank you for sending your son to us. Thank you for your promise of life eternal. I praise you for being an all-seeing God, an all-wise God, and a caring God.
Amen.
