How to Turn Back to God

Nehemiah 1

Have you fallen out of love with Jesus? Have you abandoned your Christian faith? You may think that it’s no use in trying to regain a relationship with God or that you’ve gone too far for Jesus to ever love you. Don’t believe the lie of the enemy! We will never be too far from where God’s love can’t reach us. Now is the time to turn back to God.

Life’s challenges can sometimes lead us astray, causing us to forget the importance of our relationship with God. But if you’re seeking solace, searching for answers, or yearning for a sense of purpose in your life, it’s never too late to return to the embrace of God’s grace.

Romans 8:38 tells us that there is nothing that can keep God from loving us and wanting to save us. It says “For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

Romans 8:38

In our devotional passage today, we find Nehemiah pleading with God for the redemption of his people. It was prophesied that “If ye transgress, I will scatter you abroad among the nations.”(Neh. 1:8)

God is serious about His prophesies, everything that God says will come to pass. There are always consequences to our actions. In the case of the Hebrew people, they suffered because of their disobedience; they were dragged away from their promised land, and this caused Nehemiah distress.

God wants us to live abundant lives

Today, you may find yourself stuck in a situation because of sin and disobedience, but all is not lost. God wants us to turn back to Him, He doesn’t want us to be lost and suffer eternal death. The famous bible verse John 3:16 says “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”

God wants us to live abundant lives (How to live an abundant life) and He is willing to give us victory if we are willing to turn back to Him. Nehemiah claimed God’s promise in verse 9 “yet will I gather them from thence, and will bring them unto the place that I have chosen to set my name there.” He wants to bring us to a place where we are contented and happy; God does not delight in his people’s suffering.

All He is asking is that we come to Him, forsake the things that are not good for us, and He will lead us into a successful life. Will you turn back to God today?

Prayer for Today:

Dear Heavenly Father,

Thank you for never giving up on me. Thank you for your grace and mercy in my life. I know that I have turned my back on you so many times but yet you still love me. Help me to surrender my whole heart to you, Lord. I am weak but I know you will be my strength.

Amen
